Public Domain Public domain software is absolutely free. It is written by the author for fun/to make a name for himself/because he cannot afford a commercial program/because there is not a commercial program. It can be obtained through PD libraries, where you may pay a little for the price of the disk and the management of the library. Normal costs are around £0.99 per disk. PD can also be downloaded using a modem. PD can be distributed as much as you like but the source code usually remains the copyright of the author. This program is an example of PD - it costs nothing and may be distributed freely.. PD is only very rarely found on the PC but it thrives on the Amiga.
